Before you can raise a lab order, CAPS28 needs to know which laboratories you work with and what kinds of work you send them. Both lists are maintained once, in clinic setup, and then appear as ready-made dropdowns on every lab order — so the front desk never re-types a lab’s details or mis-spells a work type.
You’ll find them under Office → Laboratory. The page has two collapsible sections: Labwork Type and Dental Laboratories.
Labwork Type
A work type is the kind of appliance or prosthesis a lab makes for you — for example Crown – Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM), Zirconia Crown, Complete Denture, RPD Cast Partial, or Clear Aligner. This is the list that fills the Work dropdown on a lab order.
- Add New — opens the Labwork Type dialog; enter a Name and Submit. The new type appears in the list immediately.
- Edit — click a type to rename it.
- Delete — removes the type after a confirmation prompt.
Dental Laboratories
A laboratory is the vendor itself — the lab you courier the case to. This list fills the Lab dropdown on a lab order, and keeps each vendor’s contact details in one place. Click Add New to open the dialog and capture:
- Name — the laboratory’s name.
- Contact Person — your day-to-day contact at the lab.
- Email, Phone, Mobile — how you reach them.
- Address, City (type three letters and pick from the lookup) and Pincode.
Each saved lab shows as a card with its contact details; use its Edit and Delete controls to keep the list current (deleting asks you to confirm).
How it ties together
Anything you add here is available the moment you next open Create a lab order — the Lab and Work dropdowns read straight from these two masters. Keeping them tidy means faster, more accurate orders and clean reporting on the Labworks list.
